Summer 2009 Schedule
Summer Sunday Mornings
Throughout the summer months we will be having two identical
Sunday morning services (10:00 and 11:30 AM).
We will also be offering our Kidztown (birth through 5th grade) services during
both services and our Teen SLAM services during the 11:30 service.
Other weekly ministries include ... College (11:30), Single Moms (11:30), Young
Couples (10:00), and Senior Adults (11:30).

Summer Sunday Nights

July 5 |
We will be taking advantage of the new pavilion out back
along with a camp fire (for smores of course), sand volleyball,
horseshoes and other yard games. The church will be providing the meats
and the membership will be providing the drinks and side dishes. |

12 Game Night at Solid Rock |
Who is up for some Monopoly, or Risk? How about Cranium
and Mad Gab? Ok, maybe even some Mexican Train Dominoes? A little more
advanced ... how about bowling on the Wii (or many other games)? This
will be a fun time of games and a great time just hanging out. We will
begin at 5:00 PM. |

19 Photo Scavenger Hunt |
This will be our second year of hosting a photo
scavenger hunt. Last year's was a riot. We will be meeting at the church
at 5:00 PM to team up and receive the list of photos that must be taken.
(If you have a digital camera please bring yours along). |

26 Missions Trip Celebration Service |
This evening will be dedicated to those that served on
our summer missions trip to the Bahamas. We as a church have spent
months praying and this will be a time to celebrate all that God
accomplished in and through our team. |

2 Vacation Bible School Celebration Service / Up movie outing |
VBS Sunday is always an exciting time to see our
children singing and sharing what God taught them throughout the week.
After the second service we will also be going to watch the Disney/Pixar
movie UP at the Trillium movie theater in Grand Blanc. |

9 Great Lakes Loons Baseball Game |
One of the nicest minor league baseball stadiums in the
country is located in Midland and is home to the Great Lakes Loons. We
will be leaving immediately after church to watch the Loons play West
Michigan Whitecaps. |

16 Movie Night at the Church |
Get ready for football season and our Big Ten sermon
series by enjoy watching the movie Facing the Giants on the big
screen at the church. Showtime starts at 5:00 PM. |

23 Home Teams Begin |
Home Teams for the Fall begin with a study coinciding
with our Sunday morning messages based on the 10 Commandments of Exodus
20. This will be a very important time for everyone to get plugged in
for the Fall. |

September 6 Guys vs. Girls Softball Game |
So who reigns as the best softball team at Solid Rock.
Every year our two teams play for ultimate bragging rights throughout
the year. Game will be played at 1:00 PM. |
Summer Midweek
Pavilion Bible Study (PBS): Each week our adults (college age up) will be meeting in our new pavilion for a casual time of Bible study followed by sand volleyball, yard games and bonfires.
SLAM (youth ministries): Our teenagers will be teaming up with other churches in town. Each week we will meet at the Solid Rock and rotate to other cooperating churches for a great time of Bible Study, worship, and games.
Summer Special Events
Men's Trip to Detroit Tigers Baseball Game
(July 25)
Tigers vs. White Sox ... enough said. We will be leaving the church
at noon. Cost is $25 per person (this includes a meal at the stadium).

Vacation Bible School (July 28-31)
This is traditionally the highlight event of the summer. This year
will probably be the same. Our theme is based on the new Disney/Pixar movie Up.
VBS is nightly from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.

Family Canoe Trip (August 22)
A relaxing trip down the AuSable River is what everyone needs after a
long summer. We will be leaving the church at 8:00 AM. Cost is $30 per canoe
(plus sack lunch on the river).

Tailgate Party / Church Outside (August 23)
We will be kicking off our Fall sermon series, The Big Ten, with a
tailgate party and hopefully our church service outside (last year we tried this
and got rained out). Tailgate party begins at 10:00 and service will begin at
11:00 immediately followed by lunch at the pavilion. (Prizes will be given for
best decorated tailgate).
